Llandudno Sports Club concluded an eventful sporting year with their annual Squash and Tennis Club Championships.
In the squash championships, the women’s competition cup final defending champion, Demi Steenkamp, was too strong for rising junior star Sarah McLeod, winning her fourth women’s title in 10 years.
In the men’s cup final, it was a repeat of last year’s showdown between defending champion Ryan Bluck and two-time previous winner Lochlan Williamson.In an action-packed match that drew gasps from the packed clubhouse for its high intensity and silky stroke play, Lochlan triumphed with a 3–1 victory to rack up a hat-trick of championship titles.

Lochlan then teamed up with younger brother Brody to defend their doubles title, beating Glyde Thompson and Demi Steenkamp in a tightly contested tussle.
Rounding out the squash competition, Ferdinand Straub was crowned junior squash club Champion, beating his sister Hilda in the final to claim bragging rights in the Straub family.
In the tennis championships, Georgie Gerner won the women’s singles cup final against Wanda Stransky, and Morné Franken oozed class in edging out Bob Groeneveld in the men’s singles cup final.

Wanda was able to get her hands on some silverware by partnering with Lize Wessels to win the Women’s Doubles Cup Final against Laurence Esteve and Kim Nelson.
In the men’s doubles cup final, Marc de Beer and Chris Sohn were too strong for Andy Sutcliffe and Bernard Ross.To finish off a thoroughly enjoyable day of high-quality tennis, Lize Wessels and Clive Barrett beat Georgie Gerner and Vincent Weve in the Mixed Doubles Cup Competition.
The winners of the junior tennis club championships were Lily Simpson (girls’ champion), Boris Weve (senior boys’ champion), Jonah James Simpson (junior boys’ champion) and Tristan van T’Hof (minnies champion).
Rob Picard was awarded the Peter Holling Trophy in recognition of his service to the club.
