Sweet return to home soil for Troublemaker
One of the most exciting fighters in the EFC roster, Faeez “Troublemaker” Jacobs made his return to the cage last Thursday at EFC 107 in Johannesburg.
The Capetonian reminded everyone that he means business in the Bantamweight division of the promotion.
Facing Angolan Eduardo Barros, Jacobs mixed it up nicely during the three-round contest, which served as the main supporting bout for the Flyweight championship between champ Gift Walker and Terrence Balelo.
Jacobs showed his speed in the striking department and equally made headway in the grappling exchanges. The three-round war was declared fight of the night as Jacobs walked away with the judge's decision.
The last time Jacobs was in the EFC cage was in November 2021. He fought in the UAE Warriors for his next two fights going 1-1 before coming back to showcase his skills on home soil.
“I feel exceptional, the win was truly special after such a long time away, and I'd like to continue doing incredible things this year, I am inspired and ready to get back to work for the next performance,” said Jacobs.
The Bantamweight title will be on the line at EFC 108 next month and with the win last week, Jacobs will have another shot at gold. Before the end of 2023 or early next year, Jacob's return may bring the EFC gold back to the Mother City.
“After the fight, it was announced in the post-fight interview in the cage and again at the press conference that I am the number one contender and I'll fight for the belt next, so yes that's exactly what I want.”
Shannon van Tonder takes on Musa Sethwape for the vacant belt and the winner of that bout is who Jacobs will look to wrestle the belt away from.
