VOB Macaw handed Bothasig Baseball Club their first defeat in two seasons.

Bothasig claimed the Cape Town Federation’s Major League championship without a defeat last year.

This year, after finishing round one unbeaten, they had a bumpy start to round two of the league, with a 3-2 defeat to VOB, at Chukker Road, on Saturday November 16.

Bothasig’s Jordan Stopforth hit a double to put the Knights forward during the match.

In the eighth innings, however, Luke November hit a home run to give VOB the lead.

VOB’s coach, Jody Burch, said the team is awaiting the outcome of a protest appeal from the first game against Bothasig.

With six wins from eight games, VOB (52) trail Bothasig (55) by three points. They have now won six from seven matches. Bothasig have seven wins, with one loss.

On November 23, Bothasig will look to bounce back when they play against the Maitland Giants at home.

VOB welcome Thistles Baseball Club, at Chukker Road, at 3.30pm, on Saturday.
