Something special is unfolding at the Kronendal Retirement Village in Hout Bay  – one stitch at a time.

The knitting club at the retirement home has an incredible group of women tirelessly knitting and crocheting beautiful blankets for residents in less fortunate old age homes.

Angie Long from the knitting club said: "Each blanket tells a story, woven together from colourful strips and squares, stitched with care, compassion, and a whole lot of heart.

"It’s a joy to watch these works of art come together – what starts as a simple ball of yarn becomes a gift of comfort and dignity. These blankets do more than just provide warmth; they carry kindness and connection from one community to another."

Ms Long called on the public to support their efforts at the kniiting club, as they wish to create more blankets to help.

"We’re always on the lookout for more wool to keep the creativity flowing – if you have any spare double knit wool, we would be so grateful for your donation. Every strand helps stitch a little more love into the world," she said.

If you’d like to donate or learn more, get in touch with the knitting club by contacting Ms Long on 082 544 7460.
