Homeless receive free haircuts

The Barber Angels Brotherhood sponsored free haircuts for the homeless in Hout Bay this past weekend.

Seventy people sported new haircuts thanks to the deft touch of The Barber Angels Brotherhood who offered free haircuts to the homeless last weekend.

Previously, Sentinel reported that the Barber Angels Brotherhood would be visiting Hout Bay and offering free haircuts for the homeless (“Barber Angels descend on Hout Bay”, January 29).

Most of the clients who received haircuts at Leopard’s Rest in Hout Bay on the day came from Hangberg, according to spokesperson, Miriam Münch.

“The people who had their hair cut were also gifted with goodie bags which where filled with: a tooth brush, tooth paste, biscuits, chips, soap, deodorant, face towels, fruit and a sandwich,” Ms Münch said.

There are future plans to expand and continue this initiative but it will require sponsors.

“The plan is to get more hairdressers on board to assist us so we can continue organising these events regularly. This initiative can make a real difference in people’s lives. We are also happy to confirm that Freddy Aslar will serve as the President of Barber Angels in South Africa, with Marc Assenheimer as the Vice President,” Ms Münch said.

For more information email Miriam Münch at Miriam.Munch@currenciesdirect.com or follow them on Facebook.
