Alexander Molteno, Llandudno Primary School principal
Imagine a school where being kind is not just something we talk about, but something we do every day.
Imagine a place where being honest, staying positive, and being brave are just as important as learning to read and write.
This is the vision we are making real at Llandudno Primary School in 2025.
With new values to guide us, we are working to make our school a place where everyone can grow into their best self.
These values didn’t come out of nowhere.
They were chosen after a process of school-wide surveys and conversations with learners, parents, guardians, and staff.
Everyone’s voice was important in deciding what values mattered most to our community.
That’s why our four guiding principles – kindness, integrity, positivity, and bravery – truly represent who we are and who we want to be.
These values are not just ideas. They show in what we do every day.
For example, kindness means helping a friend who is feeling sad or including someone new in a game. Integrity means being honest and taking responsibility if you make a mistake.
Positivity is about staying hopeful and trying again, even if something is hard.
Bravery means having the courage to try something new or speak up for what’s right.
Our school’s motto: “Be the best you can be,” reminds us every day to aim high and do our best.
Our vision is to help everyone at our school go out into the world and do good things.
We want to teach not just maths and science but also how to care for the planet, help others, and make good choices.
These lessons help us grow into kind, smart, and caring people.
As the principal, I am immensely proud of what Llandudno Primary already is. But we have big plans for this year. We want to bring our values to life in everything we do.
This means talking about them in class, showing them in sports and projects, and making sure everyone understands how important they are.
We also want to keep learning exciting and fun by using new ideas and technology.
Taking care of our planet is also a big goal for us. We are continuing with projects like recycling and learning how to protect nature.
And we want to make sure our school community – our parents, teachers, and learners – works together to make our school the best it can be.
I want to invite everyone in our local community to join us in this exciting journey in any way possible.
Parents, teachers, and friends of the school, your input is so important.
Together, we can show kindness, honesty, positivity, and bravery every day and make a real difference to Llandudno, Hout Bay and beyond.
We intend to make sure that every pupil at our lovely school understands these values and uses them to make a difference.
There is a saying: “It takes a village to raise a child.” At our school, we are that village. With our values to guide us, we are ready to make the future bright and full of possibility.
Let’s make 2025 a year to remember by helping every pupil “be the best they can be” and go into the world to do good.
Let’s also inspire other schools to join us in building a community where kindness, honesty, positivity and bravery are at the heart of everything we do.
Best wishes to our entire Llandudno and Hout Bay community for a successful, happy, and healthy 2025 ahead. Let’s make it extraordinary.
