Four people were left homeless as a fire gutted wood and iron structures in Hout Bay on Monday, February 16.
Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Gerard Langenhoven said the vegetation and rubble alight in Salamander Road was reported at 2.36pm.
"One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and four people were displaced," he said.
Onlookers who sent photographs of the fire to Sentinel News reported hearing multiple sirens and suspected it was a vegetation fire.
Mr Langenhoven said the fire was extinguished at 5.18pm.
Hout Bay residents are worried that winds may fan flames.
