Lion's Head and Signal Hill hiking trails reopen after fire.

The Lion's Head and Signal Hill trails have reopened following a fire that caused a temporary closure yesterday, Thursday, January 8.
Trails through the burned area remain closed as a precaution, and visitors are asked to avoid walking on the potentially hot surface.
South African National Parks (SANParks) spokeswoman Babalwa Dlangamandla said drivers on Signal Hill Road should exercise caution due to the presence of emergency vehicles throughout the day.
One helicopter was waterbombing the fire area, while additional crews were dispatched to Ocean View Drive.

City of Cape Town's fire and rescue services spokesman Jermaine Carelse said they attended to the blaze above Fresnaye at about 2.25pm.
More than 80 firefighters, aerial support, and teams from Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) were dispatched to start working the fire lines.
Mr Carelse said that crews had to contend with strong winds as they worked to contain the blaze and minimise damage.
One helicopter was waterbombing the fire area, while additional crews were dispatched to Ocean View Drive.
Before 4.30pm, three helicopters took to the skies earlier to help suppress the fire that broke out above Fresnaye.
The fire was extinguished by 5.30pm, and no property was at risk. Crews were damping down and monitoring for flare-ups.
"The public is asked to steer clear of affected areas until declared safe," he said..
