Llandudno Primary School pupils came together to collect dozens of shoes, donating them to a school in need.

Kaylagh MacFarlane, the school's Grade 1 teacher and manager of the outreach programmes and community drives at the school, said the occasion was a "heartwarming act of generosity and community spirit".

The campaign at the school was inspired by the recognition that many children in the community lack access to proper footwear for physical education and sporting activities, often playing barefoot or in worn-out shoes.

This prompted pupils from Llandudno to start donating pairs of sports sneakers and shoes to Sentinel Primary School.

Ms MacFarlane said their latest initiative was driven by a desire to ensure that every child had the opportunity to enjoy sports in comfort and was met with "gratitude and excitement".

"The donation comes as part of Llandudno Primary’s ongoing efforts to foster empathy, social responsibility, and active citizenship among its pupils," she said.

The collected sneakers - ranging in sizes and styles to suit all ages- were handed over in a small ceremony at Sentinel Primary School earlier this week.

Ms MacFarlane said the joy was evident on the faces of the Sentinel pupils, many of whom tried on their new shoes with pride and excitement.

"This initiative not only supports physical well-being but also helps build bridges between communities, showing how small acts of kindness can have lasting impacts," Ms MacFarlane said.
