Pupils at Llandudno Primary School marked Spring Day with an initiative aimed at spreading kindness and encouragement within the community.
As part of the celebration, every pupil brought a chocolate, which was then gifted to matric pupils at Silikamva High School as they prepared for their preliminary examinations.
Adding a personal and creative touch, pupils from Grade R to Grade 3 crafted handmade “good luck” cards to accompany the sweet treats.

English teacher and head of library, Marzanne Scheeper, said the moment marked a "special" occasion for the school.
“There’s something truly special about bringing together Grade 12s, who are finishing their school journey, and our little ones who are only just beginning theirs. It highlights the full circle of education and the power of encouraging one another along the way,” Ms Scheepers said, who led and organised the initiative from start to finish.
The thoughtful tokens carried messages of support and encouragement, reminding the matrics that the younger generation is cheering them on, she said, adding that the initiative also highlighted the values of "empathy, community, and generosity".
"Teachers noted that it was a valuable lesson for learners in how even the smallest gestures can have a lasting impact. More than just a Spring Day celebration, the activity became a reminder of the importance of standing together and uplifting one another in times of challenge," Ms Scheepers said.
Llandudno principal, Alexander Molteno, said he was proud of pupils for making the initiative more about giving back as opposed to "flowers and sunshine".
“This year’s Spring Day was about more than flowers and sunshine – it was about generosity. We are proud that our children understand the power of kindness and community, and we hope these small gestures bring encouragement during an important time,” he said.
