The Lions Club of Hout Bay held the graduation ceremony for its 2025 Youth Leadership Programme.
The event took place on Saturday April 12 at the Denis Goldberg House of Hope, honouring the remarkable journey of 27 Grade 10 pupils from Nowers High School Academy.
The 14-week programme consisted of a series of interactive workshops focused on team-building, motivation, conflict resolution, financial planning, emotional intelligence, vision boarding, wellness, mental health, and public speaking.
"Under the guidance of a phenomenal group of skilled facilitators, the learners experienced not only skill development but also profound personal growth, culminating in a memorable graduation ceremony filled with pride and accomplishment," Lions of Club of Hout Bay President, Liz Huckle, said.
As the students took the stage to articulate the impact the programme had on their lives, it was clear that the sessions had instilled a sense of confidence and purpose.
Speaking before a gathering of parents, facilitators, Lions members, teachers, and guests, the graduates reflected on their transformative weekend focused on team-building and environmental awareness.
Programme leader Lion Elizabeth Boonzaier beamed with pride as she congratulated the pupils for their dedication and commitment. "We are so proud of you all," she said.
Leon Linz, principal of Nowers High School Academy, expressed his immense gratitude towards the Lions and benefactors for bolstering the school's leadership programme.
He said almost every pupil spoke positively about the learning, growth, and service concepts introduced throughout the programme, reinforcing the notion that empowered individuals can make significant positive contributions to their schools and communities.
