Sea Point High School pupils considered their future study prospects during a career expo.
Sea Point High and Camps Bay High pupils have been exploring options for their futures.
A career expo, with presentations from private tertiary institutions, was held at Sea Point High on Friday February 7 and at Camps Bay High this past Monday.
“This event made me very hopeful for not just the future of myself and my fellow 2025 matriculants, but for the future of the 2024 matriculants who are sitting at home with passes and haven’t got accepted to university because of the mass amount of kids that passed the year. This shows me a bigger broader perspective on what’s happening behind the scenes,” said 16-year old Sea Point High pupil Likhona Vika.
Fellow Sea Point High pupil Chinasa Muoh, 17, said she had learnt about options other than university.
“There are other platforms where I can get my own personal degree in the career field that I am willing to pursue.”
Thandokazi Gxothelwa, 17, said she had realised that “the profession I wanted to do after high school isn’t the only profession that I am interested in”.
Sea Point High Principal Leana le Breton said the expo had shown pupils that there were many career options available to them.
At Camps Bay High, 18-year-old Chahel Gouender said: "My parents pushed me a lot for overseas work, but now after this event, I see that there’s a lot of opportunities within South Africa itself. So it helped me in a very significant way.“
