Five school marching bands and two community marching bands showed off their drill skills at the third annual Marching Band Festival at the Ocean View soccer fields on Saturday.
The Vigis Home of Hope (VHOH) Ocean View cadets won the first prize for the grand march past and their drill exhibition at the third annual Marching Band Festival on Saturday at the Ocean View soccer fields.
The event, organised by the CareCompany, a non-profit, was first held in October 2022 (“Ocean View marching band festival the first of many,” Echo, October 13, 2022).
Five schools and two community marching bands showed off their drill skills.
The CareCompany community project manager Dimetre Vigis said all the participants had shown exceptional teamwork and commitment.
The Hout Bay School for LSEN; Kleinberg, Levana, Lourier and Ukhanyo primary schools; Delft Community Cadets; and VHOH Ocean View Cadets participated.
Kleinberg Primary School won the prize for the best-dressed team, and the Hout Bay School for LSEN took the trophy for dedication, passion, and commitment.
“The enthusiasm of the bands and their supporters created an electric atmosphere, celebrating individual and collective achievements. Such events not only entertain but also inspire young musicians to cultivate their talents and contribute positively to their communities, ensuring a vibrant future for the arts,” Mr Vigis said.
