Matric dress holds special memories

In 1995, the material samples came from Dubai, with a friend of her mom Liza, and Liza designed the dress, which was then made by Ouma Betsie for Liza’s Matric Farewell in September 1995.

And after 29 years, on Thursday September 19, Kira wore the beautiful black velvet dress, with silver glitter, to her boyfriend, Durand’s Matric Farewell at Paul Roos High School in Stellenbosch.

This was an emotional, exciting event to celebrate the beauty and craftsmanship after all these years of memories, said Liza. She added: “My husband of 23 years, Werner, was my date and best friend at the time, and was my chauffeur.
