Unemployed people, young and old, can now register at the NoStop non-profit organisation’s office and collect a free job-seeker travel voucher that can be used on Golden Arrow buses to go for interviews.
The organisation is now part of the provincial government’s Getting YOU to Work voucher, a pilot project offering job seekers 12 free trips to interviews using Golden Arrow Bus Services. The department launched the project in February.
The vouchers can be used on any Golden Arrow bus, on weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
Getting YOU to Work is being piloted in Cape Town and is available to job-seekers who have secured an interview with participating companies.
Employers or companies that would like to sign up to participate can register on this link.
“We are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking project. The programme addresses a significant challenge faced by our youth: accessibility to job opportunities,” said Charlene Miles, the director of NoStop.
The organisation’s office is at 106 Milton Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein.
Golden Arrow spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer said their buses were service providers for the department’s jobseeker travel voucher project and referred Northern News to the department for more information.
Mobility Department spokesperson Muneera Allie confirmed that NoStop was accredited to offer the vouchers.
“The programme offers businesses or NGOs operating and recruiting in Cape Town the opportunity to offer a free travel voucher to candidates to travel to scheduled interviews,” she said.
