Hout Bay High School Grade 8 and 9 pupils heard about the importance of conserving our oceans during a workshop held by the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) on Friday June 7 ahead of World Oceans Day, on June 8. Thomas Mtonts, SAEON’s educational officer, spoke to the pupils about sustainable fishing, poaching and the threats to marine biodiversity. “In the Hangberg community, poaching is one of the major threats to biodiversity.
