Fashion and entertainment to collide at this year’s Cape Town Met
The World Sports Betting Cape Town Met is an event that’s become a staple of the South African social calendar, blending the high-speed excitement of horseracing with top-tier fashion, entertainment and a whole lot of style.
Every year, the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse turns into the ultimate hotspot for the who’s who of Mzansi, with all eyes on the track as well as the stunning outfits that grace the venue.
Last year's Cape Town Met captured the spotlight with its “Cape Splendour theme,” celebrating vibrant elegance and creativity that set the social scene buzzing. The day’s fashion was as striking as the action on the track.
The festivities were equally engaging, with performances by local talents such as Craig Lucas and Jarrad Ricketts. Additionally, iconic drag superstars Vida Fantabisher, Manila von Teez, Kat Gilardi and RiRi Rouge added flair to the event.
The theme for this year’s fashion showcase is “Couture Unleashed,” which celebrates South Africa’s talent and diverse creative energy.
“The Met brings together world-class racing, high fashion and vibrant entertainment, creating an experience like no other,” said Donovan Everitt, the chief operating officer of Cape Racing.
Curated by renowned designer Gavin Rajah, the showcase will feature twelve of South Africa’s top designers.
They include Mzukisi, Craig Port and Kim Govaars. These designers will present everything from Afrocentric prints to modern sophistication, while Rajah’s collection will bring opulent couture-inspired pieces to the runway.
“The excitement around South African fashion is growing and we’re thrilled to showcase the bold and creative talent we have here,” said Rajah.
He added that guests can look forward to a mix of timeless elegance, experimental shapes and top-tier designs.
Meanwhile, the 2025 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met after-party, will keep the festivities going. Grammy Award-winning musician Zakes Bantwini will headline it, with DJ Zinhle, Neon Dreams and GoodLuck also expected to take to the stage.
“The entertainment line-up ensures that the energy and excitement extend well beyond the racetrack,” the organisers said.
“The after-party celebrates the fusion of music, fashion and racing, creating a vibrant, unforgettable experience that defines the essence of the Cape Town Met.“
In addition, the event also plays a key role in driving cultural and economic growth in South Africa. By providing a platform for local designers and entertainers, it helps to boost tourism and local businesses.
