Fans have rallied in support of veteran talk show host Wendy Williams, 60, following the release of a new documentary.
Last Wednesday, American celebrity news site “TMZ” premiered “Saving Wendy” on YouTube.
In the documentary, Harvey Levin conducts a telephone interview with Williams, who is currently residing in an assisted living facility in New York City.
Due to her circumstances, the veteran talk show host is filmed through a window, as she is unable to leave the facility.
The documentary provides an in-depth look at Williams’ ongoing conservatorship as well as her legal and financial situation, which began in 2022.
Williams reveals that she lives an isolated life, having been allowed outside only twice in the past month and she has no access to a personal phone or iPad.
She added that her possessions are locked in a storage unit and that her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has legal approval to profit from managing her estate.
A court order prohibits those involved in the case from discussing it publicly, which limits transparency.
Under US law, a conservatorship occurs when a judge appoints a guardian or protector to manage the personal or financial affairs of someone who is unable to do so due to age, physical or mental limitations.
In the interview, Williams expressed her feelings about her situation, stating: “What I got is robbed with this s@#t. I didn’t even know what a guardian was.
“You know, it’s like I went from a thousand to zero once I got involved with this guardian situation. I mean, it’s been three years. I feel emotionally abused.”
As for her health, Williams claims that she has not seen a doctor in nearly two years, despite receiving a dementia diagnosis in 2023.
She insists that she is “not incapacitated” and questions the court’s decision to keep her under guardianship.

“Being locked up, with no independence, family, or friends, will only degrade what's left of her wellbeing. They want that to happen. It isn't human.”
