Last Night of the Proms at City Hall

Staff Reporter|Published 1 year ago

Last Night of the Proms offers a fun night out.

The Rotary Club of Wynberg’s fund-raiser Last Night of the Proms will return to the City Hall, with Roccover Beethoven, on Saturday March 16, at 7pm, and Sunday March 17, at 5pm.

The Cape Town Proms Orchestra will once again be conducted by “Mr Proms”, Richard Cock.

There will be two soloists, the pianist, composer and musical director Rocco de Villiers, and up-and-coming baritone Lonwabo Mose.

Audiences will enjoy massed choirs comprising the Cape Welsh Choir, the Cape Town Male Voice Choir, the Wynland Koor and the Tygerberg City Choir, as well as the pipes and drums of the Cape Town Highlanders.

As a special treat, the 39 carillon bells of the City Hall will be rung before the show and during the interval.

Next year’s beneficiaries will include the Friends of Orchestral Music, Victoria Hospital and various Wynberg Rotary projects.

There will be lucky draw prizes that include local getaways.

Tickets cost from R250 to R350 through Computicket.
