Brenda Davis, Dash Leopards
An applause and thank you to community of Hangberg, Hout Bay for their tremendous support at our benefit concert held on February 24 featuring Paxton Fielies, Emo Adams and The Rockets.
It was a huge success due to the hard work of everyone involved.
The concert was initiated as part of our fund-raising strategy for the Dash Leopards Soccer School attendance at the Open Easter Tournament in the Netherlands at the end of March.
It was heart-warming to see the support the community displayed, even when the lights went out a few times during performances… and even when it came to the clean-up at the end of the show.
Our local talent sparkled on stage and the audience was very appreciative. Emo had some women swooning in their seats it seems.
The Rockets are a firm favourite with the older generation. They were reminded of their last performance in Hout Bay many years ago and that they certainly have a huge following in Hout Bay. Many more memories were made on Saturday.
We extend our blessings and thank-you to the City of Cape Town, Elaine Masemola for making the multi-purpose centre venue available. We thank the event organisers, Seanne and the Guys, for the stage and lighting and sound. We thank the security provided by Pastor Frans, and also a huge thank you to Mr and Ms Davids at the local creche for the use of their premises.
Thank you for the extra chairs provided by the church. Thank you to councillor Roberto Quintas for his ongoing support of our cause, thank you to Helena Fagan of the Harvest Youth Centre for her tireless contribution to the community of Hout Bay. Thank you to all the dancers and singers and performers who put in long hours of training and practice.
Also a big thank you to Justin Masemola and Jikeleza for another sterling performance.
The parents have been phenomenal throughout our strategy to get the team to the Netherlands. We want to give them a special thank you for their diligence support and their love and belief in their children and the soccer school.
And last but not least, thank you to the Dash team and associates, especially Ricardo Phillips for always pushing onward and upward, John Reed, Edwin du Preez, Mr LeClue, Edgar Theunissen, Marco Linden, Nicolas Jansen Reggie… If we have forgotten anyone, thank you too from the bottom of our hearts.
