The David Bass Quartet will be performing on Saturday May 13 at The Ear (formerly the Alexander Bar), 78 Strand Street, Cape Town, at 7.30pm. The quartet consists of David Bass on piano accompanied by Justin Bellairs on saxophone, Kevin Gibson on drums, Wesley Rustin on bass and special guest Willy Haubrich on trumpet and trombone.Bass, who will be playing in his first live performance in seven years, formed his first band while studying medicine in 1972. He has been playing his unique blend of jazz-fusion on Cape Town stages ever since then, as the leader of the high-energy quartet Feedback, and in recent years with the acoustic AciDBass project featuring saxophonist Mike Rossi. The live performance at The Ear will feature new material written and recorded during the lockdown as well as selected pieces from his back-catalogue.Tickets cost R150 each through Quicket.
